Hi! I’m Sandra.
Get started on your homestead journey with me.
Hi there! I’m Sandra and I live in a small apple-growing village in New Brunswick, Canada. I have 4 beautiful daughters, 2 granddaughters, 22 feathered friends, and a pit-bull mix named Ani.
I have found my passion in working as a private senior support person and house cleaner in my community. It’s a wonderful job that allows me to be around the people I love most – my family! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in the garden or relaxing with my family. I also love taking care of my critters; they are such an important part of my life.
We are a family of five living in New Brunswick, Canada working on our homesteading dream! My husband and I bought our 1970’s fixer-upper on an acre of land back in 2006. We have recently started renovating it into “Our Home”. Our goal is to turn it into a functioning modern homestead that produces our own food while it continues to provide a safe and happy shelter for our children.
But… let’s back up a bit! My youngest daughter was born in 2009 and I dreaded going back to my job in a nerve-racking call center where I was a floor supervisor taking all kinds of nasty supervisor calls all day long. I decided to stay at home and make an attempt at finding some miracle work-from-home job. So…the mission began to stay at home and raise my own children, bring in an income, and do the things I LOVE to do.
I started this blog in hopes of chronicling our journey to self-sufficiency and offering advice and encouragement to other homestead mamas through our successes and mistakes along the way!
I am really good at making the best of situations… Growing up with a father who worked for very little income and a stay-at-home mother, taught me to make the best of all situations. When things got tough, my dad always found a way to make things work. I try to be that person with my own family now whether it be a scheduling, financial, etc. issue.
